South America Earthquake Relief
As local churches care for their communities, ICR's partners are responding with emergency relief and long-term support.
June 30, 2026

There are no excavators. Only neighbors digging through the rubble with their bare hands, refusing to stop searching for loved ones.

Following the devastating earthquakes that struck parts of South America on June 24, entire neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble. Tens of thousands of people remain missing, hospitals are overwhelmed, and hundreds of thousands have been affected by the destruction.

As communication slowly improves, we continue to learn more about the scale of the disaster. Ongoing power disruptions and damaged infrastructure have made it difficult to fully assess needs. Even so, ICR’s partners are working tirelessly to assess conditions, deliver emergency relief, and serve affected communities wherever they are able.

The immediate priorities are clean water, food, medicine, and mattresses for families who have lost everything. In the coming days, the response will begin to shift toward clearing debris, repairing homes, supporting churches, and helping communities begin the long journey of rebuilding. Recovery will likely continue for years, with local churches playing a vital role in bringing both practical help and the hope of Christ.

Even in the midst of tragedy, there are signs of hope.

Believers are gathering to pray together, encouraging one another, and serving their neighbors with compassion. Through faithful local churches and ministry partners, Christ’s love continues to shine in communities facing unimaginable loss.

How You Can Pray

  • Pray that those still trapped beneath the rubble will be found in time.
  • Pray that God will bring comfort, strength, and hope to grieving families.
  • Pray for protection and endurance for first responders, local churches, and ICR’s partners.
  • Pray that Christ’s love will be evident through every act of compassion and service.
  • Pray for wisdom as communities begin the long process of rebuilding.
