SNAPSHOT: Southwestern Asia
February 2, 2026

In southwestern Asia, leaving Islam can be a death sentence. Converts are not simply killed—their homes may be burned, and if an entire family has converted, all may be executed. Because of this, Christians live quietly and cautiously.

Surveillance has increased dramatically, forcing believers to learn new ways to protect themselves. Many now read the Bible from hidden SD cards or carefully concealed paper copies. Economic pressure is severe: one income often supports twelve or more people, and finding work is extremely difficult.

Despite this, believers endure. Many choose apartment buildings over houses for safety. Families are large, marriages are delayed, and women face heavy restrictions. Yet amid fear and control, Christians stand out—marked by hope, dignity, and quiet courage.
