Imagine going through life as a second-class citizen, denied many basic rights and with no opportunity to ever better your situation. That is where many Pakistani Christians find themselves in daily. They are given the worst jobs, unable to access good education and often forced into indentured servitude in a system that is stacked against them.
Additionally, they live at constant risk. They could be attacked by an angry neighbor, their home or church could be vandalized, or they might be accused of blasphemy under Pakistan’s strict blasphemy laws. Currently, several Christians are in prison either awaiting sentencing or serving life sentences after being falsely accused of blasphemy.
One Christian recently said, “This is not a safe place for us here.”
