Iran: Mohammadali Yassaghi freed from detention

M J

Friends of Mohammadali Yassaghi (Estifan) praise the Lord for his release from Babol Prison in Mazandaran Province, North Iran.

On 1 June MEC requested prayer for Mohammadali, a member of the ‘Church of Iran’, praying that he would be soon freed and able to rejoin his family. (The ‘Church of Iran’ is an Iranian faith movement with a non-conventional understanding of the Trinity.)
Mohammadali (age 52), from a Muslim background, was arrested in Mazandaran Province on 10 April 2018 and charged with ‘propaganda against the establishment.’ It is common in Iran for vague political charges to be brought against those arrested for religious choices and activities of which the authorities disapprove.
On 25 June, Mohammadali was brought before a judge in the 102 Revolutionary Court of Babol, who courageously rejected the charges and ordered his release.
Those supporting Mohammadali are very thankful for his release from prison and that the charges levelled against him have been dropped. They request prayer that:
a. Mohammadali will quickly recover from any trauma resulting from his arrest and imprisonment
b. the Lord will bless the judge in standing up for justice
c. more judges in Iran will have the courage to affirm religious freedom and desist from condemning Christians and other religious minorities
