Egyptian Christians request prayer after an attack earlier today, 2 November, in Minya province on two buses carrying Coptic Christians.

Gunmen opened fire on the buses that were driving towards the Monastery of Saint Samuel the Confessor.

Seven Christians were killed and at least seven more were injured. The spokesperson for the Coptic Orthodox Church expects the death toll to rise further.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for this atrocity.

On 26 May, 2017, a bus carrying Christians on their way to the same monastery was also attacked by militants, killing 28 people.

Egyptian Christians request prayer for:

a. God’s comfort for those who lost loved ones, and for full recovery for the injured

b. comfort and encouragement for the wider Christian community, and for God’s protection over his church in Egypt and over other targets of similar attacks

c. for those responsible for the attack, that they will be brought to justice and will repent of the evil they have done
